Let’s just make this very clear, its only being cancelled in the french canadian province of Quebec. The rest of Canada will still get it on the Space channel but only in English.

This is not entirely true. Buffy has been airing in Canada for nearly a decade. Just not in French, I guess.

Vrak.tv is the Quebec equivalent of the Family Channel. There are petitions available to sign to get the station to reverse its decision through the forums on the station’s web page.

I wonder if the moderator would kindly change the title of this message post to correctly reflect the situation - Buffy is definitely not cancelled in Canada because of content, and in fact, at least one episode was aired in Canada before the US because of content concerns.

I agree with everyone else that the title has to be changed. It’s completely wrong, and slanderous towards canada. You americans may enjoy putting us down, I don’t. This is a quebec only problem. get it right, or get gone.

My thanks to the people of this site for giving me the heads up on this. I live in quebec myself and while I watch both shows (BtVS and Ats) in english because dubbed versions kinda suck, I find it a very, very stupid decision. Oh, and because I live in quebec my only option to catch BtVS and Ats is to watch the reruns on "the WB time" on fox44. WB...isn’t that the channel we’re supposed to hate? Damn those censorship bastards.

I am canadian, from Toronto. And I watch Buffy, every monday to friday.Don’t worry, at least there’s one more channel that airs Buffy/Angel in Canada.

Quebec is in canada. nobody cares.

YOU Canadians wouldn’t have shit without US Americans... at least for entertainment! So don’t complain about people putting Canadians down and dog on Americans in the same breath.

And by the way, I like Canada; always have. Granted, South Park is freakin’ hysterical, but all Americans don’t feel exactly that way about Canadians!

they removed scenes in the UK, not France...

We’d do just fine, thanks. I won’t bother to mention the HUGE numbers of Canadian movie, tv and rock superstars that could easily entertain *us*.

Love Americans!

Hi, just thought I’d put my two cents.

Buffy was never cut in France, I’m french and I’ve been a fan since the start and I’ve watched carefully, on the other hand it has been butchered by the worst translation in the history of television. On this side of the atlantic it’s a teenie hit because all wit has been removed. That’s why it doesn’t surprise me that it is aired in Quebec in french on a family channel. And I guess they couldn’t make it pass for a dumb teenie thing anymore after season 5 no matter how much they changed the script.

I’d just like to say that there is no such thing as censureship of tv or movies in France. Some stuff will only air late at night but they don’t cut because of content, they eventually do because of length. The Last thing I saw on french tv that was obviously cut was The season nine finale of Friends, and I can’t imagine what was offensive about it. Granted I don’t watch TV much, but still, we are often shocked in Europe when we hear about the way entertainment is filtered. Or maybe I am. And I know they do the same in the UK.

Anyway the french version is so excrutiating that I’d say it’s a blessing that the fans have to watch in english. That’s just my opinion anyway.
