I love spike to death, and I know he’s important to closing the hellmouth, but it just makes the cover look odd. They should have made it just Buffy, or Buffy w/ Willow, Xander, and Spike. It makes it seem as though they are together in this season.

Calling the cover art ’rude’ is the funniest thing i’ve heard all week. Second to Buffy, Spike was the next most focused on character, I think they got it right but putting him on there. He did die saving the world afterall. The colour scheme works perfectly, and the only problem I see right now is the fact these pictures weren’t of season 7, they were season 6. Buffy looked very different in season 7. Other than a more interesting pair of pictures, i don’t see anything wrong with the cover. I can’t wait to see what they do with the disc art. I think as long as Buffy, Spike, Willow, Dawn and Xander get represented, it’s all good. The other disc is anyone’s guess, could be Andrew, Faith, Caleb, maybe Anya or Giles.

Isn’t the Willow Demon Guide already in one of the Season 5 discs in Region 1? Why are they repeating the extras??

And the art cover is ugly, I don’t like this pic of Buffy and I don’t think Spike should be there.

Well the cover is crap! and as to change the cover e-mail these people to change the cover Allsion wallce In charge of Fox Marketing: alison.wallace@fox.com and Todd in charge of the Dvds: todd.israel@fox.com so make your voice heard if you want a BETTER Final Buffy Season Cover. As for an option to change it should probably look like the australian cover with Buffy and the cast, a group shot and a large Buffy, maybe, or something else really good.

Hmmm...a so-so cover for a so-so season.

I do agree that they should have Buffy be alone on the cover, just like the 1st season’s, so the "full-circle" theme (although almost downright transparent on the show) could be flaunted. They could’ve used a better season 6 promo pic than that...like maybe the one on the cover of the Chosen novel...or if they were that desperate, a stupid ep promo pic from Lessons or something, where she has mom hair.

Also, the pic of Buffy on the spine kind of looks exactly like the sixth season’s.

Sigh.

But hey. November release date. That has to rule just a little.

Why Spike! Grr...

Saturday 21 August 2004, by Anonymous :

The thing I disliked was that they didn’t do any promo pics for season 7..just used the same ones from season 6. Hence the cover which I also disagree with. Is that UPN’s fault I wonder? Also, Aly had blonde hair—what was up with that?? I think for season 7, just Sarah on the cover..and not any of the already used promo pics!

I dislike the cover. For one, it just looks bad. For s2, Buffy and Angel were in a posed picture, and it looked good. For s4, Willow and Buffy matched, and there were Gentlemen in the background for extra effect. Even so, when a picture isn’t posed, the cover looks bare. And the colors just don’t work. SMG’s eyes were made to match the background… blah. And the photos are from the same shoot that graced the s6 boxset.

I agree that a better choice would have been a photo from s7. Maybe even a candid photo from “Chosen”.

As for the choice of Spike on the cover. If it was a choice between Spike and Buffy, or Buffy alone, I’d choose Buffy by herself, with a cool photo, because of the reasons posted here. But as it’s the last season, I would have loved a cast photo. Or a core four photo, to acknowledge their importance. And to get Giles on cover.

But Spike only, when it’s the last season of the show? No, I would have picked something different if I had been in their position. Yes, Spike owned the show for s7. Willow, Xander and Giles didn’t do much of anything. That’s why I want them on the cover. It’s the only way I’ll get to see them! Besides, why would they change their 3 people on the boxset format? Angel and Faith, Spike and Dawn, Willow and Xander. It worked well before, and those were, imo, the best covers.

It’s a shame the cover looks bad, but I wouldn’t have had as much of an issue with it if there had been at least one other person on the cover. As long as its wasn’t Principal Wood, Kennedy or Andrew.

And if the cover reflected the quality of the season, Beef Wellington, it would have been really bad television. Season 7 was just really bad Whedonverse television.

To Anonymous poster: I doubt you can change the cover now, though.

I think it’s perfect for season 7. Season 7 was all about Buffy and Spike reconciling their relationship, what the new soul meant for Spike, Buffy, and everyone else, and Buffy really coming into her own as a leader. Not so excited about the fact that the pics are from season 6, but I’m not gonna sit here and complain. I’m just thrilled to be getting season 7 and am looking forward to the commentaries and extras.

What about that picture of Sarah with the bloody stake? That would have been perfect for the last season. But as it is this one sucks.

Sunday 22 August 2004, by Anonymous :

Its not a spuffy cover, no more than season 4 is a Wuffy or Billow (whatever) cover. Its who got the story of season 7, and that was Spike.

It would have been nice to have the cast, or just a third person like on the other covers.

well, it doesn’t matter really what cover photo they have... we’re all still going to buy it, right?? lol. of course. =p

Monday 23 August 2004, by Beef Wellington :

Oh, and are they going with a cathedral theme AGAIN?!?!?!?! The background looks like the ones they used on some parts of the big foldy case for seasons 5 and 6...

Why the laziness?!

Tuesday 24 August 2004, by ajc_2525 :

The only bad thing about the cover is Buffy’s eyes they look so unatural.

I’ve had this for 3 months now on DVD it came out here in Australia in June and I’ve got Angel Season 4 they are all good but out of both of them I think the Angel Season 4 one is much better to purchase unfortunately! We’ve had a couple of mistakes on our DVDs we have a couple of printing errors including the Willow Demon isn’t on our discs even though it’s mentioned on both the DVD and sticker and there’s a couple of DVD emblems missing on the DVD covers as well :) I have my complete set now and looking forward to getting Angel Season 5 on DVD probably wait till it goes cheaper cos I have it all taped on Video!

i’m glad i live europe, the boxart is way more beautiful here and they’re all in widescreen(i don’t care what anyone says it looks way better). I sugest if you can, buy the region 2 version(the one in the bookthingie). And what’s up with Buffy and Spike on the cover, it should just be Buffy alone.

Tuesday 24 August 2004, by Anonymous :

What is included in the europe box sets and how are they designed, whats on the disks and are the disks in individual cases.

Wednesday 29 September 2004, by Adarra :

To be honest, I don’t think that’ll be the Season Seven cover. All they did was "edit" Season Six cover and added diff. colors and added Spike. So I wouldn’t get worked up till the Release date is here and you see it, and I agree that it should either be (a)- Buffy alone on the cover or (b)-have Buffy, Willow, Xander, and Giles on there since they’ve been on there since day one...

Anyone Agree?
