Monday 10 January 2005, by Anonymous : If everyone is supposed to be equal, what should it matter what race you are? If Buffy was black, she would be a hero? I can’t think Buffy is a hero because I’m black and shes not? Sunnydale was a town, as Mr. Trick says, full of "the caucasion persuasion". Hey, author. There are actually skinny blonde girls out there in the world. Black or white or yellow or red, what should it matter what color you are?Tuesday 11 January 2005, by Anonymous : Wow, another meaningless rant. Maybe this author should buy season 7 cause it’s actually all the minorities that survive in that year. Also, one thing that should definatley adressed is that Buffy has always been a very open show when it came to sexuality and relgious beliefs.Tuesday 11 January 2005, by Anonymous : Hello??? Kendra anyone? I mean, yes, she is dead, but she still got to be a slayer! And Rona? She’s still alive! I think this is a bit severe on the show because it DOES have a multi-racial cast and fanbase!Tuesday 11 January 2005, by Anonymous : Screw that. I am mixed...part white, part black. Buffy is my superhero. I don’t care if she’s blonde, fat, white, black, asian, red hair, blue hair...whatever. She’s Buffy-slayer, scooby member, screw all I’m going to kick your ass-Summers. She and SMG are amazing. This article offends me on a few levels a) she refers to African American or Blacks as ’people of color’. Where does she live? The 1800’s? That’s really non pc. b) I think that she is making all people who are non-white look bad. She speaks with a ’we’ like we all share this stupid opinion. WELL WRONG. If this dilusional woman watched Buffy the Vamprie Slayer she would see that Buffy is anything but boring. I mean, for one SHES A FRICKIN SLAYER? How could that be boring all on its own? She sleeps with vampires, has pshyco witch friends, an imaginary sister, hell gods chasing after her and she’s died twice. Maybe even three times if you count flat lineing. And another thing...Kendra was a slayer and she was black. Robin Wood was on the show for an entire season. Son of a slayer, and had some power. And his mother was a slayer. She had a pretty influential role in the last season even if it was small. Also, Kennedy is latino, Rona is black, and you don’t see many red heads on TV. Buffy has had five or more. This article is so ignorant.Wednesday 12 January 2005, by Anonymous : So it’s the fact that the major characters on Buffy are ’white’ that bothers this writer?? Well, if this writer had bothered to watch season 7, they would’ve realised that the character of Robin Wood, a major character, was NOT killed off! But I guess some people are just so quick to criticize!Wednesday 12 January 2005, by paladin : "Also, Kennedy is latino" What? Did I miss that? It looks like I have to watch season 7 again :) Any hints as to which episode this was mentioned? Thanks. Monday 7 February 2005, by Anonymous : If you actually read the article and not just this review, you’d know that the author *does* specifically address season 7 and all of the people of color who show up in it. Don’t criticize something you haven’t read. These comments are an anwser to this article : Girls Who Bite Back : Witches, Mutants, Slayers and Freaks (buffy mentions) |
