Monday 23 May 2005, by spikeNdru : The one thing I have never understood in this whole "obscenity" brouhaha is the blatent sexism of the entire premise. A nipple is a nipple, right? WRONG! Men’s nipples are allowed out in public at any or all times, but women’s nipples are obscene? Why? Why is it okay for a man to walk around completely shirtless, exposing both nipples, yet Janet Jackson is corrupting the youth of America with a 2 second flash? *sigh*Monday 23 May 2005, by ficus : While I agree that the pursuit of media indecency is just a handful of generally reasonable politicians getting a few extra interest group dollars for their next campaign, there is a difference between a woman’s nipple and a man’s, so get over it. (sorry if it sounds like I am venting at you, it’s only because I am— even if I do wish women could walk around topless)Monday 23 May 2005, by Fifth Space : Fight censorship! First they took away swearing and nudity. Then they took away Bill Hicks’ right to discuss "Jesus" on David Letterman. And still they come to steal artistic freedom. How much more will they take. How many more subjects will be deemed "off limits". Censorship is the enemy of democracy. Voice you’re opinion. Don’t let anyone tell you what you can and can’t say. Monday 23 May 2005, by Fifth Space : But only fight with love peacefully. Fight by using your voice to raise awareness and expand consciousness. Use art, use conversation, use fashion. That’s why it’s so important to protect the freedom of speech.Monday 23 May 2005, by Anonymous : This is stupid. I have the common sense to use a REMOTE! I don’t think any kids were tramatized by a nipple, you want to argue that that wasn’t the place and time for such a stunt fine. But their trying to take away the right place and time. I mean come on, I should have the right to make my choices on what I want to view. It’s common sense, you don’t let your kids watch HBO if you don’t want them viewing nudity or harsh language. Their going to take away the outlet for us responsable people due to the few incompotent. These comments are an anwser to this article : How FCC’d Up Is This ? (buffy mention)
