Buffy/Angel TV Film Possible?

The WB has approached Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel creator Joss Whedon about doing at least a movie-of-the-week or two-and possibly as many as six-next season, thanks in large part to a fan campaign organized by Saving Angel, E! Online’s Watch With Kristin column reported. But the columnist added that, despite herculean efforts by fans to save the canceled vampire show, Angel won’t be coming back as a regular series, either on the frog network or on UPN or Fox, which have both passed.

"I think a Buffy movie is more likely to happen now," Angel cast member James Marsters (Spike) told the columnist. "And they may be given better budgets, seeing this kind of interest, because there’s a feeling that there’s a guaranteed audience. So the effort that I’ve seen, it is not in vain."

Meanwhile, E! Online reported that The WB executives have decided to review an episode of Fox’s canceled fantasy series Wonderfalls along with its pilots, which means it is in the running for a fall season pickup.

    *hopes*

If I can’t have an Angel series I would prefer move-of-the-week things to nothing, especially if they were all high quality (written by Joss Whedon) :)

A Buffy movie would be the greatest. Most of the televisions shows that are airing are just reality shows...it almost feels like good quality acting isn’t going to show up any time soon because reality shows happen to be on every channel. I think a bunch of fans would love having a movie done. I myself am begging, praying...possibly making a ritual sacrifice to the Gods that have created such outstanding show such as Buffy and Angel....Okay well, not exactly doing the last two things mentioned. But I think If fans really want that to happen they better start putting another petition to work, because I believe the creators and owners consider fan and their opinions very much...here I am rambling on...No one is probally reading this.............

When did Fox pass on Angel? I never heard anything. Ahhhhhhhhhhh, nooooooooo!

Anyway, the Wb offering to do a series of movies next year is not solely do to the Save Angel campaign.

As much as it pains me to say anything good about the WB, I must. It was actually an offer they ghave been discussing with Joss Whedon from even before a campiagn was launched.

They knew how string the shows was (they do check their ratings), and also wanted to give it closure. I suppose they want to do as much as they can to not have fans turn against them, while piushing Angel to the wayside.

To quote the WB: "We have discussed continuing the Angel legacy with special movie events next year, which is still on the table."

You can see the press release @ : http://thewb.com/PressRelease/Index/0,8341,156980,00.html

I too would rather see a searies of movies, then nothign at all. However there is a delema here. How much free time will everyone have on their hands? The most I expect to see is 2 or 3 movies next year. (But again, better then nothing.)

As for a Buffy film; why bother? There has already been one, and it was pathetic. Oh wait, that was a slightly different plot then the show.

That was actually before the female super hero was made popular by the Xena series, and had to be watered down to a comical level.

OK, here is another reason not to do it. Buffy has had ever story needed to be told about her told, and more. Let’s not waste time there, when Angel has so much more left to be told about him.

A buffy/Angel movie with the scoobies and with...whatever the Angel gang call themselves now (ŤAngel avengersť lol) would be a great ending for the buffyverse, and jw idicated as much in the radio interview where he talked about savingangel.com. I just wished we had more ats before that...

Ah, so there is a God. If WB follows up on this and does make Angel/Buffy TV movies I will make sure every damn person I know will watch them. If the TV movies have awesome ratings, maybe they’ll give us a weekly show. I can’t function without my weekly dosage of the Jossverse.

Life is so DULL without BUFFY and ANGEL, it was bad enough when BUFFY went but when they Cancelled ANGEL as well, I got very depressed. How could they do this to us loyal fans, so I was highly delighted when I read that WB might be making a movie with ANGEL and BUFFY, I have hope at last, I just wish the series was coming back though! Maybe I should’nt give up hope of a miracle just yet!!!
