Dailynews.com Michelle TrachtenbergMichelle Trachtenberg - "Black Christmas" Movie Premiere - ReportJoel Stratte-McClure Monday 25 December 2006, by Webmaster The scream queens in the low-budget eye-popper "Black Christmas" weren’t surprised to see Tara Reid and "Entourage’s" Rex Lee at Tuesday’s premiere at Mann’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. The two horror film fans wanted to be among the first to see why "Christmas," which opens Monday(Dec. 25), has prompted an outcry from organizations claiming that it’s sacrilegious and contrary to the spirit of the holiday. "I love to scream and get really scared," said Reid, who appeared in "A Return to Salem’s Lot" when she was 12. "I get even more excited when I hear that a film offends people who can’t take a little splattered blood with their Christmas dinner." "At heart I’m a teenage girl and just love the ’Ugh’ moments in horror films," added Lee, the "Entourage" star who let out a blood-curdling scream on the red carpet . The "Christmas" actresses who lose their heads in the film, including Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Michelle Trachtenberg, Lacey Chabert, Katie Cassidy and Kristen Cloke, insist this is high-quality horror. "Usually they get a bunch of unknown girls and kill them off in this kind of film," said Winstead, who picked up a Hollywood Life Breakthrough award this month for her role in "Bobby." "But we are all very professional, established and talented. Of course, we get killed anyway." Trachtenberg insists that the film has a wholesome theme. "Spend Christmas with your family or at the mall if you want to survive the holidays," she explained during the after party at Memphis. And definitely don’t let a movie wreck your Christmas. "We just wanted to put out an alternative to the Oscar contenders and holiday feel-good films," said Winstead. "We didn’t mean to offend anyone." |
