General Sam Lane, Lois’s father, makes his first appearance on Smallville.
 "We had an understanding. You were supposed to stay away from the crime scene," Sam Lane tells her. He also told her that he was transferred to Fort Ryan so he could head their training program. "So you could keep an eye on me," Lois responds.
 Sam calls Lois his "little Lo."
 Jonathan invites Sam Lane to dinner. "He’s a four star general, he deserves some respect," Jonathan says. (Guess this means Jonathan is okay)
 Clark does not seem to like Sam, and thinks that landing helicopters anywhere he wants is "extreme parenting."
 "My heart’s not what it used to be," Jonathan says.
 Sam turns down the dinner invite, and wants Lois to come with him to the base. Lois says goodbye to Clark with a hug.
 Later on, Sam walks in on Clark going through his things. Lois doesn’t back him up, and says "I walked in and found Clark going through your things!" Sam doesn’t buy it, and says Lois is a bad influence, and demands they tell him what they’re doing there or "you’re going to wish you never stepped foot on my base."
 Lois has conflict with Sam, and says she never had any friends because he never stopped being the General. "It might help if you picked friends that didn’t break into my office."
 Lionel is an infirmary at Metropolis Men’s Central. He has wounds. A man named Trent tells him "Lex led me straight to her." Who "her" is, we’re not sure, but Trent tells Lionel to "ante up or Lex and the star of your little show will testify tomorrow." "Make sure her silence is permanent this time," Lionel threatens.
 A guard tells Chloe "Miss Sullivan, you have a visitor." We THINK it’s Lex visiting her, but we’re not sure.
 Lex is receiving some kind of dialysis, and he’s brushing off the nurse when it’s time to do it. "It’s not a lunch date you can be fashionably late to," he is told.
 Clark finds one of General Lane’s cigar butts in the hangar where Lex is keeping his jet. Interesting...
