Primetime Metered Market Ratings NBC - 15.2/22 CBS - 14.6/21 ABC - 5.6/8 UPN - 4.2/6 FOX - 3.4/5 WB - 2.4/3 Percent Change From the Comparable Year Ago Night (Thursday, Jan. 10, 2003): ABC: +22, CBS: +14, NBC: + 6, UPN: + 2, WB: -37, Fox: -38 Yesterday’s Winners: Friends (NBC), The Apprentice (NBC), CSI (CBS), ER (NBC), Without A Trace (CBS) Yesterday’s Losers: Threat Matrix (ABC), Tru Calling (Fox), Steve Harvey’s Big Time (WB), All About the Andersons (WB), Jamie Kennedy Experiment (WB), Run of the House (WB), Primetime Thursday (ABC) Ratings Breakdown: Fueled by the soon-to-conclude Friends (#1: 17.8/26 at 8 p.m.), the 90-minute debut of Donald Trump reality series The Apprentice scored an impressive (and overall second place) 13.6/19 from 8:30-10 p.m. The Apprentice started at a first place 15.7/22 in the 8:30 p.m. half-hour followed by a second place 12.6/18 from 9-10 p.m. For those of you concerned about the 9 p.m. dip, keep in mind that the competition was CBS’s unstoppable CSI (#1 for the evening: 19.3/28). Also on NBC was ER at a time period winning 16.5/24 at 10 p.m., 24 percent above CBS’s competing (and impressive) Without A Trace (#2: 13.3/20). Earlier in the evening, a repeat of CSI came in second with an 11.3/17 at 8 p.m. — 24 percent above ABC’s distant third place Threat Matrix (4.7/ 7). Also in the 8-9 p.m. hour was the first half of UPN’s WWE Smackdown! (4.0/ 6), Fox’s struggling Tru Calling (3.2/ 4) and the WB’s barely visible combination of Steve Harvey’s Big Time (2.6/ 4) and All About the Andersons (time period premiere: 2.6/ 4). Overall, UPN’s Smackdown! averaged a typical 4.2/ 6 from 8-10 p.m. At 9 p.m., and against CSI and The Apprentice, ABC’s Extreme Makeover was in need of a ratings makeover with a below average 5.8/ 8. Back-to-back repeats of Fox’s The Simple Life averaged a 3.7/ 6 while the WB’s Jamie Kennedy Experiment (2.6/ 4) and Run of the House (1.8/ 3) remained in the basement.
